Kintai Bridge is a Beautiful and Strong Arching Bridge in the city of Iwakuni, in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. About 200 m long, the bridge spans the Nishiki River. The wooden structure consists of five arches, each 5 m wide, 6.6 m high, and spanning 40 m The elegance of the form inspired the name Kintai, which means gold brocade sash, because of a similarity to the traditional Nishiki obi for kimono.
The original dates from 1673, but flooding from a typhoon destroyed it in 1950. The 1953 reconstruction, with partial restorations in 2001 and 2004. Today the bridge is illuminated at night, and it is a great spot for viewing the cherry blossoms in the spring, the changing leaves in the autumn, and cormorant fishing in the summer.
This Kintai Bridge is not the right MC. Because Kintai Bridge is located in Iwakunishi, Yamakuchi Ken. But the stamps were canceled in Osaka and Kobe.
