Portugal - São João Bridge

São João Bridge spanning the Douro River, in Porto. It was planned by engineer Edgar Antonio de Mesquita Cardoso, and it was built from 1984 to 1991. It is a reinforced prestressed railway bridge and it has 1029 meter in length, a central span with 250 meters, height above valley floor 66 meters, deck width 12 meters and it has solutions technically innovators in the kind of structures. This bridge was built to relieve traffic from the old Maria Pia Bridge.
